First year 12 for school

29 Jan, 2010 07:30 AM
SCHOOL bells rang for the first time this year across the Macleay yesterday.

The first ever year 12 class became a reality at Kempsey Adventist School (KAS) yesterday.

School principal Rohan Deanshaw said he was excited about the High School Certificate (HSC) and is looking forward to a successful year.

“While this is the first time we have had a year 12 class at our Kempsey campus, it’s certainly not the first time that Adventist Eduction has delivered a quality HSC education,” Mr Deanshaw said.

“Adventist Education has been providing quality private eduction in NSW for over 100 years.”

Fifteen students are enrolled in the KAS year 12.

“We have great facilities, enthusiastic students and motivated teachers,” Mr Deanshaw said.

Year 12 student Aaron Ralph said he was aiming to go well in his HSC and look towards future careers this year.

He is studying Business Studies, Information Process and Technology, Food Technology, Personal Development Health and Physical Education, English and Studies of Religion.

“Being at this school gives me a really good outlook of where I want to be in two years time or in the future,” Aaron said.

“The teachers are fresh and they know how to introduce students into future pathways.”

Classmate Maneesha Walsh said she enjoys the good morals and values on offer at KAS.

“It’s a great learning environment because of the friendly teachers and students,” Maneesha said.

KAS went through Board of Studies accreditation last year and has received approval for their HSC program for the next five years.

Parents can visit the Commonwealth Government’s new My School website.

The website provides essential information about how their child’s school is performing.

NSW Premier Kristina Keneally said this is information parents have said they want more of - not less.

“For the first time, parents will have access to information about their child’s school academic results, its student population, attendance rates and Year 12 completion,” Mrs Keneally said.
