MACLEAY mother of three Amanda Hayward was one of nine recipients of the North Coast Public Schools Parent of the Year award.
Mrs Hayward was chosen for her outstanding contribution to Aldavilla Public School and achieving quality educational outcomes for not only her children, but also other students at the school.
“Aldavilla is a wonderful school that has great teachers who support their students in everything they do, and that’s why I just love coming here,” Mrs Hayward said.
“I always come away from the school glowing.”
Mrs Hayward has volunteered her time at Aldavilla Public School for more than six years while her children have attended.
Over the past three years Mrs Hayward has been secretary and most recently the president of the school P&C.
During that time the P&C has raised more than $20,000, most of which has been directed towards the school.
“My most successful and rewarding outcome was gaining joint funding for our school hall awning project, and this year replacing the old school uniform with a new, smarter look,” Mrs Hayward said.
Throughout the year Mrs Hayward coordinates a variety of events including Blokes Brekky (Father’s Day), a Mother’s Day stall, All Stars Concert and merit selection, just to name a few.
Nominations were assessed by regional selection panels with the inclusion of a representative from the Federation of Parents and Citizens’ Associations of NSW on each panel.
The panels consider how a nominee has made an outstanding contribution to the public school community, and how the nominee has worked successfully as a partner in achieving quality educational out-comes.
Aldavilla Public School principal David Munday said Mrs Hay-ward thoroughly deserved the award.
“Amanda is always actively involved in supporting not only the education of her children but every student at the school,” Mr Munday said.
