Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is not a Flood Warning.

The slow moving low pressure trough over northeast NSW is expected to deepen somewhat over the next day or two.

This trough coupled with the moist onshore winds is expected to produce locally heavy rain today and Saturday.

Minor to moderate river flooding is possible in the following river Valleys during today and Saturday.

1. Macleay River Valley

2. Tweed River Valley

3. Brunswick River Valley

4. Richmond and Wilsons Valleys

5. Nambucca River Valley

6. Hastings River Valley

Flood Warnings are current for the Bellinger and Orara Rivers and Coffs Creek.

A Severe Weather Warning for possible flooding is also current for the NSW northern rivers and mid north coast.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.

Across NSW, about 70 per cent of Flood Watches are followed by flooding.
