THE new Crescent Head Rd overpass has opened to traffic as part of the Kempsey bypass Pacific Hwy upgrade.
NSW Deputy Premier and Oxley MP Andrew Stoner said the opening of the overpass was a key milestone for the project.
“The opening of the Crescent Head Rd overpass marks a significant achievement for the project as the first operational section of the bypass which is open and accessible to motorists,” Mr Stoner said.
“The overpass will provide motorists with safe and convenient access to nearby areas, benefiting visitors and the local community alike.”
Some additional finishing work on local property driveways will continue for about three weeks, weather permitting, which will result in some changed traffic conditions.
Traffic controls will be in place for property owners, and a 40km/h speed limit in place around the driveways while the work is being carried out.
“The $618 million Kempsey bypass project is continuing to progress well and we look forward to additional sections of the bypass opening progressively between now and the scheduled completion in mid-2013.”
