OXLEY MP Andrew Stoner announced funding of $60,000 yesterday for local transport infrastructure as part of a regional grants program.
The Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme is administered by Transport for NSW and provides support to improve transport infrastructure outside major cities.
The Kempsey projects funded are a new taxi rank in York Lane, next to the Kempsey-Macleay RSL
Club, and the construction of weather-friendly bus shelters in Gordon Young Dve at South West Rocks and in the Crescent Head CBD.
The projects were suggested by Kempsey Shire Council, which prepared the application for the grant.
Mr Stoner is also Minister for Trade and Investment and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services in addition to his duties as Deputy Premier.
“This is good news for local public transport passengers as these improvements will provide benefits for years,” Mr Stoner said.
“In Kempsey, an additional taxi rank will be established in York Lane after the council removes the existing toilet block.
“The taxi rank will then be in a central area near shopping and entertainment facilities.”
