THE National Baseball Teams for 2010 are now in place with the Macleay Valley having three players represent their hometown of Kempsey.
In the under 18s Country NSW baseball will have Braden Farrawell and Jarrod Saul.
Both players participated in the under 18s in a tournament in Perth, Western Australia.
Braden and Jarrod’s lead up to selection was attending under18s Country Championships in Illawarra in June and then again at Senior Country Championships in October where the last cut was made.
These players attend training sessions in the Newcastle-Central Coast region from now to January 5, 2010.
The National Tournament will be held in Geelong, Victoria until January 14.
They will play against NSW, Queensland, Victoria White, Victoria Blue, South Australia, Territories and Western Australia.
Both Braden and Jarrod have the tools for major league players in running speed, arm strength and home run hitting ability.
Braden excelled with the bat in the tournament in 2009 and is hoping to do that again.
With the boy’s quality of arm velocity, they will be a bonus for the outfield as well as time on the pitching mound.
In the under 16s Country NSW baseball team will be local Kurt Richards.
Kurt is one of the most dedicated players from the region attending training four days, playing one day and before training going to the gym twice a week.
He has been training fortnightly during November and that will continue to January 5, 2010.
The National Youth Baseball Championships is taking a new look for 2010.
Both under16s and under 18s will be played at Geelong, Victoria, so the venue will have many an up and coming potential Major League player on view.
Kurt has been spending many hours in the batting cages at Kemp Street with local Level Two coach, Mac McMillan.
His he attributes are not only his hitting but also his arm speed and fitness.
The Macleay also has another player at first reserve on the under 16s team in Tama Nohotima.
Tama is what you call the golden love player the ball doesn’t get past.
This is Tama’s first year at this level and he is putting in the continual raining sessions awaiting his all up.
