MACLEAY First XI is on the hunt for an inter-district cricket title. Macleay’s top cricketers will take on Manning River in the grand final of the Mid North Coast rep competition on Sunday.
The match will be played at Chatham Oval, Manning on Sunday starting at 10am.
It is the second season in a row that both sides have met in the grand final.
Manning won the title in 2010-11 after rain shortened the match earlier this year and they easily chased down a reduced total.
Macleay will be looking for revenge and can boast for being the only team to beat Manning this season.
Manning have been the form team this season winning three out of their four matches, twice beating Hastings and once beating Macleay in the second round.
However, Macleay scored a thumping five-wicket win over their grand final opponents back in December, which will give them confidence going into match.
Macleay started the rep season on a high after they hammered Hastings Valley in the opening round.
They had a slump in the middle of the season with two defeats but bounced back to beat the comp leaders.
Stuarts Point-Eungai player Kyle Masters will once again captain the side. His first run at captain last round proved successful as he scored a half century and led the side extremely well.
A number of talented batsmen have been named in the side and any player could produce a match winning score.
The side will also welcome the return of Scott Witchard, who has been in fine form in the local competition.
The same goes for the bowling lineup, who will be working hard to keep Manning to a small total.
