Preparations step up a gear for Heights open day

ON Sunday, November 30, the 2008 Kempsey Heights Bowling Club-Kempsey Golf Club open day will be held.

The 18-hole stableford event is open to both men and ladies.

With a entry fee of $15 per player, the day will have trophies to the value of $1000 up for grabs.

There will also be a best score over the field and three grades for men and winners for ladies.

An NTPs and a ball competition as well as a barbecue lunch round out what should be a fantastic day of golf.

Anyone wishing to play in this event can book in now at the club or pro shop.

Tomorrow is the final round of the 2008 Harry Richardson pennants, which will be held at the SWR club.

The Kempsey team is K1 - Kevin Lee and Mark Faint v SWR5; K2 - Allen McDonald and Shane Willis v SWR6; K3 - Les Booth and Glen Coughran v CH3; K4 - Mike Brady and Chris Gorman v CH4; K5 - Paul Brose and Michael Graham v F3; K6 - Michael Dyet and Des Bevan v F4.

All players can check their hit off times at the club now or contact team captain Glen Coughran.

The results from last Saturday’s 18-hole stroke event in which 79 players competed, included visitors from Frederickton, Crescent Head and Mangrove Mountain. In A grade Peter Dennis from Crescent Head was the winner with a nett 69 from the runner up Kim Clarke (nett 70) on a count back.

The gross winner was Ross Leopold with a round of 78.

Local MVVS man Andrew Bennett was back in good form with victory in B grade with a six under par nett score of 66 and was also the gross winner with a good round of 80.

The runner up to Bennett was Paul Hollis who was out early with a nett 68. The best score on the day went to the C grade winner Vic Love with a nett 61, Love also won the gross with a round of 87. Barry Pearson was the runner up with a nett 67.

The winners of the Hot ‘n’ Tasty NTPs were Steven Pearson (A), David Palmer (B), David Munday (C) and Rosemary Morre (L).

At the Eagle Boys’ eighth hole the winners were Peter Dennis (A) and Andrew Bennett (B).

The winners at the 11th were Ross Leopold (A), Charlie Hermiston (B), Graham Blanch (C) and Sandra Morrison (L). The 16th hole winners were Glen Coughran (A), David Tolman (B), Blanch (C) and Morrison (L). All unclaimed prizes can be picked up from the pro shop anytime.

Tomorrow’s event will see members and ladies and any visitors most welcome play in the 18-hole medley 2BB Stableford and individual event for ‘Boothies Ball Comp’.

All players can book in now at the club.

On the scoreboard roster fro tomorrow will be the week five team of Jim McDonald, Stuart Aston and Peter Mercer. Anyone who can help out on any Saturday please let Glen Coughran know ASAP, so you can be put on the roster.
