Drag racing on airport agenda

DRAG racing could soon be a reality at Kempsey Airport. Four Aces Drag Racing Club has made a formal submission to Kempsey Shire Council to conduct racing at the airport.

The proposal was submitted to council’s acting director of Corporate and Community Services Kathy Oliver by club president Kevin Unger on Wednesday, November 18.

The club aims to use the airport facility as a motor sport venue as well as promote tourism and leisure in the Macleay region council has voiced some interest in hosting drag races at the airport.

Club members will attend a meeting to be hosted by council discussing the future of the airport next Tuesday, December 8 from 4pm to further promote their plans. Copies of the proposal are available upon request and will also be made available at the general public meeting.
