Softballers enjoy Academy pitch

02 Dec, 2008 09:12 AM
THE Macleay-North Coast Academy of Sport softball trials were held at the end of October for the 2008-09 season.

The Macleay Association had the following players selected: Liam Garty, Tama Nohotima, Claire O’Sullivan, Katherine McCafferty, Jack Shaw, Matt Morrison, Ben Livermore, Renee Keast, Amber O’Meally and Daniel Saul.

These players will train in Kempsey every Monday afternoon from 4-6pm with coaches Mac and Lynne McMillan.

Their commitment to the academy program also includes training in Grafton once a month with the other 20 members from the Coffs Harbour, Tweed Heads and Far North Coast associations. The NCAS squad will participate in the Academy games at Armidale in April 2009, which has now been extended to include all Academy squads in NSW.

Also included in the program will be attendance at the N.I.B. Games at Newcastle to be held in July, 2009. The squad members also attended lectures given by professional speakers in the areas of sports science, training, core strength and drugs in sport.
