Mr Jeffery saw the story about young Amelie Nichols on Tuesady.
Amelie was so disgusted at the eyesore of the abandoned trolleys, she wrote a letter to The Macleay Argus about the issue.
“I was reading the paper and saw the story and it just seemed so obvious that someone should do something about it and I thought 'why not me?',” Mr Jeffrey said.
“I am a keen river fisherman and I have kids that swim in the river not far from where the trolleys are so it annoys me that people could be so thoughtless to just dump them in the water.
“I am going to need a hand so if there is anyone who would like to help then I want to hear from you.
“I haven’t really got a firm plan yet as to how to get them out of the water.
"But if anyone has a small boat that would come in handy, and maybe someone with some diving skills to be in the water.
“The more help I can get the easier and quicker it will be.”
Mr Jeffrey said he intended to contact the local supermarkets to find out if they can assist him.
“The trolleys aren’t my property, so I can’t just dispose of them but I can’t leave them on the riverbank either," he said.
"So I need some guidance from the supermarkets about what they want done with their trolleys.”
