POLICE and emergency services personnel have resumed a search for a missing 25-year-old man at South West Rocks.

The man is a Swedish national and permanent British resident who is enrolled as a student in Sydney, he has been in Australia for only 5 weeks.
Police said the man went missing in water off Smokey Cape Camping Reserve. He was believed to be camping with a friends when he went into the water to have a swim around 5pm.
Police believe the man then got into difficulty after about 15 minutes. His friend contacted police when he lost sight of him.
Police arrived a short time later and started a search that was assisted by a number of other agencies; including local Surf Rescue, local Maritime Rescue Service, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, and the Westpac helicopter.
About 8.30pm, the search was suspended due to poor visibility and surf conditions.
The search resumed at 7am Wednesday.
A number of emergency services are involved in the search process including, local police, officers from the Marine Area Command, the State Emergency Service (SES), Maritime Rescue and local Surf Rescue crews, including the Mid North Coast SLSC branch jet-ski.
