The opens and under-15s teams qualified for the Northern NSW All Schools Country Cup finals, as Mid-North Coast regional winners.
Coach David Jacobs said it was rare for a school to have two teams reach this stage of the competition.
The opens team won its opening match against Greater Northern winners Inverell High School.
They were beaten in the next match by eventual winners McKillop Catholic College, from the Hunter, whose side included NRL development players.
Melville fought back against Northern Rivers winners St John’s College, Woodlawn, but lost by two points.
The u-15s squad lacked strength in various aspects of the squad, with many players in key positions more comfortable on the soccer pitch.
They lost each of their three matches, to Farrer Agricultural High School (Greater Northern winners), Grafton HS (Northern Rivers) and eventual winners St Pius, Adamstown (Hunter).
Jacobs said each of the players and all at Melville HS could be proud of the two sides’ achievements this season, and he looked forward to continued success next year.
