The South West Rocks teenager is an accomplished runner at 400m, 800m, 1500m and cross country.
She is the NSW North Coast under-16 cross country champion.
Hannah has also won the 400m, 800m and 1500m events at the Lower North Coast athletics carnival.
“My mum and dad were triathletes and competed in Ironman events,” she said.
“I prefer to stick to the track.
“The 800m is my strongest event, but 400m is shorter, so it’s my favourite.”
Hannah receives a lot of encouragement and support from her mum Jenny and dad Robert, who gave up competing in their 30s, having sustained back injuries.
Older brother Nick is involved too, driving his sister to and from meetings.
Hannah’s regime consists of 90 minutes’ training six days a week, as part of a remote program drawn up by Queensland-based coaches Alison and Tony Fairweather.
They are coaches for the Commonwealth Games and are working with the Melville High School student on speed development training.
Having qualified for the national team at Perth last year, for the 800m, she was unable to fund the trip to Western Australia.
Running is something that comes very naturally to Hannah.
“I love the freedom and having goals to aim for and achieve,” she said.
“I try to focus on one competition at a time.
“Hopefully, I can represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 (at the Gold Coast).
“It will take a lot of work, dedication and motivation to get to that level.”
