In the campdraft, which took place during the day on Saturday and Sunday, local competitor Lochie Argue won the blue ribbon senior event – the inaugural Thomson Healthcare Champion of Champions.
Riding Nixon, he also won the encouragement draft.
Darby Prior, on Jazz, won the under-13 draft, while his sister Ellie won the under-11 event on her mare Polly.
There was a host of second places for local campdrafters – Laurie Argue in the novice event; Hugh McGoldrick, in the u-17s; and Kyle Patterson, in the u-15s.
Kate Schiffman, from Glenrock Station, Scone, won the junior Champion of Champions event.
In the rodeo, Kundabung six-year-old won the u-8 poddy ride, ahead of Joe Calleja in second, and Riley Flanagn in third.
Tom Donnelly was runner-up in the u-18 steers category, with Riley Langdon similarly placed in the u-11 category.
Organising committee president John Prior was impressed with the weekend’s proceedings.
“Entries were up this year in both the campdraft and rough riding,” he said.
“The standard was very high.
“The highlight for me was the Champion of Champions – the senior and junior events – it was as good as you’ll see anywhere.
“I think the junior event adds another dimension to the sport.
“A lot of children come from far and wide to gain points for the Nationals and for the quality of cattle here at Willawarrin.”
Prior said conditions had been very good, even with the rain on Saturday afternoon.
He was particularly delighted with the turnout of spectators for the rodeo competition on Saturday evening.
