Police said the truck had been travelling north from Sydney to Brisbane with a load of rubbish.

"The driver told police he felt a 'shaking' in the rear tyres of the B-double before veering off the roadway, colliding with the roadside barrier before coming to rest down an embankment on its side," a police spokesperson said.

"The driver was unable to correct the vehicle once it came in contact with the grass verge ... leaving a 70-metre trail of barrier and trees in its path.

"Paramedics checked the 38 year old driver for any injury and he was given the all-clear."

A decision on how to remove the vehicle is due to be made today.

A second vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old woman, sustained damage after striking barrier debris on the highway.
