The teenage striker scored twice in a 3-1 win at Wingham Warriors to lift his side into fourth place, three points clear of Kempsey Saints.

The visitors were always favourites to take three points from a team that has managed just six all season.

With Kurt Riordan and Paul Thurlow returning for Rangers, the two sides played out a cagey opening 10 minutes.

Wyatt burst into life with a pacy run down the left touchline, beating two players, cutting inside and pulling back a pass.

James Ting –  making his second straight start – dummied, leaving Liam Applegate to shoot. 

The latter’s strike was saved and Wyatt followed up to score the opener.

Rangers maintained that lead into the break, dominating possession and creating chances.

After the re-start, Daniel Saul took the match by the scruff of the neck, switching to the left flank from the centre of midfield.

Marking his 18th birthday, he showed his maturity, consistently calling for the ball.

A similar run to Wyatt’s first half effort resulted in a similar pass on the hour.

Ting, again, was on the end of this one to slot home the visitors’ second.

Wyatt scored Rangers’ third, prior to the dismissal of two Warriors players during a spell of rash tackles.

The Macleay men were unable to breach the nine-man defence further, and – with the final whistle approaching – the hosts scored a consolation.

A long through-ball fell to a Warriors striker, who beat Jeremy Masters and Danny DeBono to slot home.

Coach Dean Riordan was more than happy to take a win.

“We’re pleased to be in fourth place,” he said, “but it’s still close.

“It was a pleasure to watch Jarrah and Tingy (James Ting).

“When you’ve got two young strikers stepping up so well at this level it’s fantastic.

“Daniel Saul put in a great second half.

“It doesn’t get much better than seeing someone with close-ball skills taking on opponents with pace.”

 Rangers’ momentum continues to build, with another typically strong second half to their season.

After winning their first-round encounter , Riordan’s side slumped to just one point from their following five matches.

Three straight wins followed, prior to a heavy loss to Port Saints in round 10.

Rangers have conceded just four goals, scoring 10, in their past six matches and aim to make it three wins in a row when they visit Dixie Park tomorrow to face Port United.

“This is a big test, especially for Jarrah and Tingy,” Riordan conceded.

“We just beat United by one goal at our place earlier this season, and we’ll be up against the stingiest defence in the league.

“It’s a huge game for us, and I can’t see any changes to the line-up, though that’ll depend on how Andrew Potter goes.

“We’ll see how his ankle goes in training.”

The Hastings side sits in second place on the ladder, with 35 points, one behind Wallis Lakes.

Rangers are two points behind Camden Haven Redbacks, who themselves lost to United last Saturday.

Kick-off in tomorrow’s match at Port Macquarie will be at 3pm.

This will be the penultimate ladder round of the competition.
