With the skies clearing prior to the start, a sizeable group of walkers showed up for the Lions Club fundraiser, despite a drop in expected numbers following Saturday's rain.
Lions Club treasurer Jo Watts paid tribute to the volunteers that braved the early wet conditions to help set up the course.
“It all fell into place really well,” she said.
“We had a pretty tough time of it, setting up the marquees before it started," she said, "but after about 8am, the sun came out and everybody just had a great time.
"I’m so proud of those who gave up their time to help with the preparation.”
Walkers had the choice to complete 5km, 10km or 20km events on the day, with teams also welcomed.
As well as being a Lions Club fundraiser, the fun run also supported the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service.
Among the sponsors of the event were the Durri Aboriginal Corp Medical Service and Macleay Community Care.
Mrs Watts said the success of the day had been a collaborative effort, featuring many facets of the wider community.
“We couldn’t have asked for a more accommodating group of participants,” she said.
“People were so happy with how it all went, which is a credit to the work of the sponsors and volunteers.”
Planning has already begun for the next year’s event which will take place on August 23.
