Amber was there to play a special set to local woman Debbie Rudder, who suffers from lymphoma.

Organised by Orange Pigeon Adult Wish Australia, Amber flew up from Sydney for the performance which lasted for more than an hour.

She said it meant a lot to have the chance to come and play for Debbie.

“I have done charity shows before but this definitely has a more poignant feel to it,” she said.

“She is a very special person and it has been a privilege to meet her and her family.”

At Debbie’s bedside throughout the intimate concert were members of her support group, some of whom had also travelled from as far as Sydney to see her.

They were given plenty of chances to sing along as Amber played a diverse range of country and contemporary songs, covering artists such as Kasey Chambers, Katy Perry, the Dixie Chicks and Dolly Parton.

She also gave those gathered a taste of her upcoming album ‘Superheroes’, dedicating the title track to Debbie.

Having once played in a country band herself, Debbie said it was difficult to pick a highlight from the set.

“It was just unreal,” she said.

“This has been the best day I have had in a while. I feel lucky to be able to meet people like Amber.”

Debbie also received a video message of support from Shannon Noll on the day.
