Macleay will have strong representation in the competition with Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Club sending five crews while South West Rocks surf club will also compete in one of the categories throughout the weekend.
Yamba has been happy hunting ground for the Crescent Head club who last year took out the men’s open and master’s open divisions.
Crew member Mike Conomos said the addition of some new crews will make for a highly competitive meet.
“There is definitely a bit of the unknown in terms of who we are competing against this time around,” he said.
“Yamba are entering teams for the first time in a while and there are teams coming down from Gold Coast who weren’t there last year. We will just have to wait and see.”
Crescent Head were the club to beat in last year’s series and won the club championship.
While they have managed to maintain their entire master’s crew, they have lost a couple of members of their men’s open crew.
Their ladies line up remains virtually unchanged while they will have an entirely new junior boy’s team.
They will be joined by the South West Rocks Surf Club in the Men’s Open event.
