The Akubra and Hogan Cup have received a make over with the winning jockeys and trainers to receive updated trophies on the day.
Until then, they will be kept at the general store on Sea Street under the care of racing club's committee member Jamie Edwards.
One aspect of the annual race day which will remain the same, is the involvement of Akubra, which will continue to provide support for the event.
Mr Edwards said the company along with the other major sponsors, have always made an invaluable contribution to the day.
“The committee really appreciates the work of Steve Kier and Akubra and also Kempsey Heights Bowling Club in helping us to stage the cup,” Mr Edwards said.
“We wanted to give the race a fresh look this year which I think these new trophies manage to achieve.”
There is a little more than a fortnight to go until the Akubra Cup with preparations well underway on and off the track.
Mr Edwards said he expects the track to be more than ready come race day.
“It’s the best its ever been,” he said.
“The track itself doesn’t get used much throughout the year so it doesn’t take much to keep it in good condition and we will also have some new signage going up for the cup.”
