Held in conjunction with the Kempsey Akubra Cup, a sizeable crowd gathered to watch the competition which was decided by special guest judges Karen Pini and Chris King.

Mr King worked for The Macleay Argus 40 almost years ago, before taking on the world as a make up artist.

He said the town had a lot to offer in the way of fashion.

“We have seen some really great looks today,” he said.

“I’m proud to see Kempsey doing so well in the fashion stakes.”

The selected men’s and women’s finalists were divided into different categories according to age before the eventual winner in each division was announced.

The winners were:

Hannah Swan who took out the Fillies on the Field category.

Michael O’Mullane - best in Colts on the Course.

Alyssa Secomb - Lady of Fashion.

Kellon Beard - the Gent of Style.

Chi Chi Brazel took out the Silver Selection.

Judy Saul – female silver selection.

Terri Anne Borger was the recipient of a special award from the judges.

Mr King said the future looked bright for couture in Kempsey.

“Hopefully the town can move forward and build on what has happened today,” he said.

“It might encourage people to shop more in Kempsey.”
