With the school closing at the end of this year, what would have been next year’s 150th anniversary has been brought forward in order to allow members of the community to celebrate its many achievements.
Principal Paul Lynch said the event was an opportunity for people to reflect on their experiences with the school.
“We want people to get together and tell stories about their time at the school,” he said.
“Former students have the chance to catch up with one another and see how the school has changed since they were here.”
The items which will displayed as part of the open day include historical observation and punishment books.
Next to the school’s current visitor’s book will be older versions of guest volumes, one of which is splattered with mud from the 1949 Kempsey flood.
Food technology students from Melville High School will take on catering duties for the event which starts at noon.
