Less than a week ago the Macleay side was voted out of the competition at the Group 3 AGM.
This confirmed a vote in October, when the Mustangs were excluded from the competition by the Group 3 board.
Now, they have been thrown a lifeline by Country Rugby League, which has convinced Group 3 to stage another meeting.
At this next meeting, the Mustangs will again present their case.
Country Rugby League chief executive Terry Quinn and chairman John Anderson will be at the meeting, as will representatives from the Macleay club.
The case was discussed at a CRL gathering in Wagga on Wednesday where Mr Quinn pushed for Group 3 to review its decision.
Speaking to The Argus yesterday, Mr Quinn said it was an opportunity for the Mustangs to show the progress they have made since the initial decision by Group 3 back in October.
“The purpose of this meeting is to allow Group 3 to assess its decision and for the club to present its case and show the restructuring that has occured from the top level,” he said.
“Their business plan will need to prove they are capable of being disciplined both on and off the field.”
Mr Quinn’s involvement comes after he was sent a letter by newly appointed Mustangs secretary Bruce Cain requesting that the case be raised at Wednesday’s meeting.
Mr Cain was pleased to have the chance to present the Mustangs' case again.
“We have been respectful in our approach to this matter,” he said.
“Our first step is to find out what Group 3 wants our re-submission to contain.
"Whether they want new information about the changes the club has made or if they wish us to go over what we said on Sunday is not known to us yet.
"Our goal to satisfy the need for rugby league in Kempsey remains the same.”
It is not known when date the meeting will occur.
