Kempsey-Crescent Head has leapfrogged Woolgoolga to occupy top spot in the Club Championship after four rounds with 165 points.
Helping them to achieve their standing was the open men’s crew who finished second on both Saturday and Sunday while the open women’s crew managed to consolidate their overall lead in the division.
The Kempsey Crescent Head masters crew also had a good weekend, finishing 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday.
Open men’s captain Mick Conomos said it was a strong showing by the club in lifeless conditions.
“I was pretty happy with the turnout we had,” he said.
“It was almost completely flat which proved a bit difficult. Our open women struggled a bit with the conditions but I was impressed by how our junior crews went. They seem to get better with every round which is what you want to see.”
The South West Rocks Surf Club took four crews to Scotts Head with the Open Men’s and Reserves teams each scoring nine points while the Open Women and the under 19s both finished with four points from the weekend.
