The preselection follows the recent announcement by the member for Oxley and former Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner that he will retire at next year’s state election having represented the people of Oxley since 1999 and serving as Leader of the NSW Nationals for over a decade, culminating in 2011 where he led the Party to its most successful election result since the 1930s.
The preselection to endorse a candidate to stand in Andrew’s place at the 2015 election will be held on Saturday 13th December in Macksville. All three candidates have substantial experience and a strong history of community involvement and service, as well as an understanding of what it will take to continue Andrew Stoner’s excellent record.
The three preselection candidates are:
Patrick Conaghan was born and raised in Kempsey and served as a local police officer before becoming a solicitor. He has since established his own legal practice in the region.
Melinda Pavey is longstanding resident of the North Coast, and has been member of the NSW Legislative Council since 2002. She has served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Regional and Rural Health since 2011.
Adam Roberts has a diverse working history and involvement in the local community with experience as a business owner, in social welfare, and in local government as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor of Port Macquarie Hastings Council.
