A MAN has been arrested after a police chase in South Kempsey and charged with offences including being armed with intent.

Kempsey Police told The Macleay Argus that on the afternoon of Sunday, December 14, William Henry Morris was sighted at a house in Middleton St, South Kempsey.
At the time of police arrival Mr Morris was seen in the rear yard sitting with a female.
When approached by police, Mr Morris ran out of the rear yard onto Middleton St.
Mr Morris was then followed by police on foot across Lachlan St (Old Pacific Hwy) and through neighbouring yards.
Police then began setting a perimeter for the use of a sniffer dog, when Mr Morris was sighted jumping over the front fence and out onto Lachlan St.
Police gave chase and Mr Morris was apprehended near Nicholson St, South Kempsey and placed under arrest and handcuffed.
At the time of arrest, Mr Morris is alleged to have had in his possession a small black backpack which contained assorted knifes, a black balaclava, a pair of gloves, two mobile phones, a torch and a small black purse containing a number of plastic satchels including a resealable plastic bag containing 5g of a crystalline substance.
Mr Morris was refused bail and appeared at the Kempsey Local Court yesterday.
Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with information leading to the location of the offender.
AT least six houses were broken into and two cars were stolen over the weekend in Kempsey.
In most cases, a person or persons entered the property through unlocked doors or windows with car keys, cash and assorted electrical devices stolen.
Kempsey Police would like to remind everyone to lock their doors and windows at all times even when they are home.
