Currently ranked number 7 in NSW, Ashley wasn’t just chosen, but received direct entry into the Championships due to her high quality of tennis playing and competitive nature.
Ashley has competed all over NSW and QLD during the past two years working hard on improving her game and ranking and in 2014 has won 10 championships out of 13 competed.
Beginning today, the 2014, 12 and under Australian Tennis Championships played at Melbourne Park in Victoria, has young tennis stars from around the country competing for not only the championship and top class rankings, but for a future position in the Australian side.
Ashley plays tennis every week at the South West Rocks Country Club where she has been trained and coached by her mother, Vicky Allman.
To help Ashley get to Melbourne, the Country club, along with the local Lions Club, donated money to travel to the championships and for accommodation.
“Ashley has worked really hard over the last couple of years and has continually improved as a tennis player since she first started playing here two years ago,” South West Rock Country Club president Brian Strathmore told The Macleay Argus.
“She’s a rising start in girls’ tennis and she has certainly got the potential as witnessed by receiving an invitation to the championships.
“Just the experience itself in Melbourne regardless of her success is going to be a massive contribution to her development as a tennis [player.
“And to help her and to hopefully make her tennis dreams come true, the Country Club with the local Lions Club have donated some money to get her there.
“We are all wishing her the best of luck,” he said.
