Students across the state were given the scores for their subjects on Wednesday before finding out their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank yesterday.
There were plenty of smiles at St Paul’s yesterday morning as the school held a special morning tea to congratulate the class of 2014.
The top performers at the school were Ella Scoles and (94.9) and Aaron Christensen (91.65).
Principal Kevin Lewis said the students had been rewarded appropriately for the work they put in.
“They all achieved what they wanted to achieve which is great,” he said.
The news was also good for Melville High School with dux Finnian Murphy achieving an ATAR score of 96.95, making the state’s distinguished achievers list in the process.
He was closely followed by school captain Rohan Thomas (93.45) and Daniel Ting (92.75).
Principal Jeffrey Hollingsworth described the class as a “wonderful group of students”.
At Kempsey High School, Sarah Mitchell (80.15) and Liam Crawford (76.95) achieved the best marks.
Principal Mick Eller said he was particularly pleased with the school’s above state average performances in several courses including Primary Industries and Drama.
Students in the Enterprise Centre continued to shine and lift the school’s retention rate to one of the highest in the district.
Macleay Vocational College had eight students complete the HSC.
Mark Morrison from the college said he was proud of what the students had accomplished.
“They have shown great resilience throughout the year and now they have opened lots of doors in terms of their future,” Mr Morrison said.
The Kempsey Adventist School could not be contacted yesterday.
