In line with the strategic plan for the club and as part of the club’s improvement plan, the club’s directors have decided to invest in a range of new facilities and enhancements to the RSL and its bowling club.
The Tabatinga Family Fun Centre is a part of these planned improvements.
Kempsey-Macleay RSL Club secretary-manager Daniel Abela told The Macleay Argus the renovations were supported by the need to provide facilities and services that attract target markets in line with the changing local demographics, including a growing family and youth population.
“By undertaking these works, the club aims to future-proof its long-term viability, so to continue to provide services to its members and the community,” Mr Abela said.
“Also in the list of renovations is the bowling club which has already begun a makeover to provide a modern and fresh ambience for patrons.
“We have already refurbished the main bar and installed new feature lighting, and we are working on updating the bathroom facilities which will complete the much needed refresh to the club."
The Macleay Argus has been contacted by Kempsey residents with concerns that the family fun centre would be used as a children’s drop-off area by parents going into the RSL to play the pokies.
Mr Abela told The Macleay Argus this was not the case.
“It is a family fun centre for people to come and enjoy the space with their children,” Mr Abela said.
“It is not a place where people can bring their children and leave, that is not the case at all, and I can’t stress that enough.”
Mr Abela added that with the RSL Club renovations already underway, members and guests could expect to see upmarket, stylish and modern facilities.
“This will include brand new bathrooms, function rooms and the Tabatinga children’s facility, plus the relocation of the reception to a new modern foyer area downstairs,” Mr Abela said.
“Works have already commenced with the main bathrooms being completely renovated, and the next stage of the development is the level one function space and addition of the Tabatinga facility.”
Works are expected to be completed by September this year.
The full floor layouts are on display at the club for further information.
