Having both the won by forfeit last weekend, the sides will be out for some vital match practice in the lead up to the start of the Hastings League season after Easter.

The clubs may even face off against each other should they triumph by big margins in their opening games.

It is a case of déjà vu for the Marlins as they line up against the recently formed Port Boardriders, a team who they beat in the Wauchope Nines.

The side has been bolstered by the news that they will able to field a couple of ex Mustangs reserves players for the 2015 season.

Coach Grant Schubert was cautiously optimistic when discussing his side’s chances in the pre season tournament.

“We had our first ball skills session this week and the boys were looking pretty sharp,” he said.

“We got knocked out pretty early on last year so it would be great to make it through to final this time around. Obviously playing the Magpies in the pre season would be good for us.”

The Lower Macleay Magpies will come up against Beechwood in their match.

Coach Joel McAfferty said he is more concerned about finding out what works for his side than winning the cup.

“I don't really have any expectations for this weekend,” he said.

“They are trials so I like to treat them that way. Experimenting with players in positions and just getting the cobwebs out are what we are using them for. More importantly coming out of this weekend injury free would be ideal.”

The Bain Cup matches will be played at Wauchope.
