One of the happiest attractions this year was the weather, with showgoers treated to nearly perfect conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Many used the clear skies to take in a bird’s eye view of the show from the ferris wheel, which made a welcome return after a decade-long hiatus.
There were plenty of people along for the evening schedules as well, with the Showgirls and demolition derby drawing a crowd.
This year’s Kempsey Showgirl is 18-year-old Eliza Connors.
Her win was announced on Tuesday evening.
Having come third in last year’s competition, Eliza said she almost did not make it to this year’s show.
“I’m studying at Armidale at the moment so going to the show required a bit more effort than in previous years but I’m definitely glad I made the trip,” she said.
“I’ve always enjoyed helping out at the show so it is an honour to be this year’s Showgirl. The cattle have always been my favourite part of the event.”
This year’s show had an Anzac theme with a range of different displays used to celebrate the contribution of Australia’s armed forces throughout the years.
Kempsey Show secretary Maxine Mackenzie said the poppies display was easily one of the most popular exhibits at the show.
“If we had a dollar for the every person who took a photo of that display, we would be very rich,” she said.
“The enthusiasm from the community has been absolutely fantastic. It's all about locals supporting a local event and that has definitely been the case this year.”
While an exact figure has not yet been reached, the Kempsey Show Society has reported increased takings through the gate from last year’s event.
