For the Macleay, it is horse racing with Warwick Park Race Course set to host its annual non TAB meet tomorrow afternoon.
Starting a 1.30pm, the five race program will feature a host of visiting trainers as well as a selection of local hopes.
Included in the mix are two horses from the stables of Kempsey trainer Tony Green. The local racing identity said he is looking forward to having them race on their home track.
“I tend not to do too many of these smaller type of meets but I made an exception this time because I think it will be a good day out,” he said.
“I’ve spent time training horses at Canterbury and the Gold Coast but you just can’t beat the atmosphere of a country meet. They are always very social which is probably what I enjoy most about them.”
First up for Green is Art Delago who will line up in the 1250m Benchmark 45 handicap.
Racing for the first time this year following a spell, the six year old has previously placed at meets in Port Macquarie and Taree.
Also racing for Green is Casting Crew who will take to the track in the 1450 maiden plate.
The trainer said both horses have been showing promise ahead of tomorrow’s event.
“I think Art Delago will perform quite well,” he said.
“The track looks like it will be good for both horses and have been doing well in the lead up so I think a placing is not out of the question.”
Gates open at 12pm tomorrow.
