Midcoast Rural Agencies' first "Weaner Show & Sale" was held on Friday 8th May, at the Kempsey Regional Saleyards.

On a crisp Autumn morning, 1023 head were offered on behalf of producers from the Macleay, Hastings and Nambucca Valleys.

Tim McCarthy and Mark Haywood checked the paperwork.

Shorthorn heifer on account of Neil and Abbie Dickson.

Kempsey High School Ag students raised funds for their agricultural study trips.

Buyers attended from the Hunter Valley, Coonamble, Tamworth, Armidale, Croppa Creek, and the local area.

A new record weaner price of 300.2c per kg was set with steers offered on account of Dean and Julie Turnbull of Kinchela. The Turnbulls also won the 2015 Champion Pen of Steers.

Kimberley Latham, Peter Strelitz and Jodie Ulrick were proud to present Dean Turnbull with his certificate and drench. Peter Strelitz is from Milly Hill Meats, and judged the cattle.

Jay and Susan Lowe from Bellbrook won $500 for the Best Pen of Bos Indicus Steers.

Neil and Abbie Dickson from Taylors Arm won $500 for the Best Pen of European Bred Steers.

T & P Peterkin from Macksville won $500 for the Best Pen of British Bred Heifers.

Kimberley Latham and Peter Strelitz presented Mr Peterkin with his prize for the Best Pen of British Bred Heifers.

Allan Mainey from Frederickton won $500 for the Best Pen of Bos Indicus Heifers.

Neil and Abbie Dickson from Taylors Arm won $500 for the Best Pen of European Bred Heifers.

Peter Strelitz presented Allan Mainey and Jay Lowe with their prizes.

Ben Thompson from Glen Elgin and David Chard from Grafton. Mr Thompson purchased over 200 cattle for three different clients.

Steers on account of Joy Kirkpatrick, Homewood Pastoral Co., Nulla Nulla.

Clint Shields from Kinchela Cattle Co., Warren Patterson from Bellimbopinni, and Ken McCarthy from Austral Eden. Both buyers and vendors enjoyed the day.

Stewie Witchard gave Gavin Saul some advice.

1023 calves were sold for an average of 243 cents per kilogram.

The Inaugural Angus Bull & Female Sale will be held on Saturday 25th July 2015, at the Kempsey Regional Saleyards. The Mid North Coast Angus Breeders will showcase approximately 250 head of Angus and Angus infused females, suitable for replacement breeders. Also on offer will be 25 registered Angus bulls and 15 registered Angus females. Further bookings are encouraged and recommended, with the beef industry in healthy shape.
