NSW Police Mid North Coast Local Area Commander Superintendent Fehon said out of the 12 new officers announced for the Macleay two weeks ago, seven of those will be stationed in the Kempsey region.
“A sergeant and five constables will be working from the Kempsey Police Station and another constable will be working from the South West Rocks Police Station," Supt Fehon said.
“They’ll all be focused primarily to be more proactive in the prevention of crime and will be available to assist in responding to any sharp increases in crime right across the command.”
Superintendent Fehon said the Mid North Coast Local Area Command was introducing a flexible model to not only help the Macleay, but to also assist when police are required elsewhere.
“We will also be increasing South West Rocks by an additional officer which will move that up from the current two officers to three officers," Supt Fehon said.
"This will give us greater opportunity upon the development of South West Rocks, but also in policing response out there.
“This will allow us to plan for the future as the current location of our staff has been done to consider the current crime situation and also for future projections.”
The other five officers have already been allocated with two officers at Nambucca, two at Wauchope, and one at Port Macquarie.
