Under the tutelage of head coach and former Swans games record holder, Michael O’Loughlin, and local coaches around the state, the 11-year-old will have the best platform to learn, develop and become, the best footballer he can be.
When he is eligible for the draft (at 18-years of age), he will be able to be recruited by the Swans as a priority draft selection or be in the best position to forge an AFL career around the country.
Davis first started playing AFL four years ago and has gone from strength to strength during his time at the Eagles.
He said he couldn’t wait to start his new challenge.
“It's a good feeling to be selected for something like this,” he said.
Budding Academy players now have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Swans co-captains Kieren Jack and Jarrad McVeigh, who both grew up playing footy in NSW.
QBE Sydney Swans Academy head coach Michael O’Loughlin said it’s a great accomplishment to be selected in the Academy.
“It’s an outstanding achievement to be selected in the QBE Sydney Swans Academy and a great opportunity for all involved,” he said.
“It’s fantastic for kids growing up in NSW to now have a clear pathway from junior footy, to the Swans Academy and right through to the elite level.
“We’re starting to see some talented players from NSW get drafted by the Swans and other AFL clubs which is really exciting and there’ll no doubt be plenty more players from NSW in the red and white in the future.”
