“I am thrilled we have received funding to help Kempsey’s museum,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The museum will receive the funding injection to buy hands on materials to use in an education program for local secondary students.
“The NSW Government is proud to support the state’s local museums and galleries and the professional development of people working in this vibrant sector,” Mrs Pavey said.
Mr Grant said the program provides valuable opportunities for museum and gallery staff to learn new skills and gain experience.
“The NSW government is committed to providing learning and cultural opportunities for the community,” Mr Grant said.
Historical Society president Phil Lee said the funding will help with the Kempsey museum’s schools program.
“We have been running an education program for primary school students for a while and we want to extend that program to secondary students which this money will allow us to do so,” Mr Lee said.
“It is our philosophy that community education is important so we want this to be an extension of schools were we include the community.
“Part of the funds will go towards purchasing uniforms so the school children can dress-up and enjoy the experience of the museum.”
