WITH Mustangs’ grand finals celebrations yet to die down, there will be guaranteed further sporting success for the Macleay tomorrow as focus switches to the round ball.
Four local sides make up the pairings for the finals of the women’s and men’s Northern League soccer competitions.
Fittingly, the two matches will be played at the Dangar St ground, in West Kempsey.
First up will be the females, with reigning premiers Macleay Valley Rangers Ladies taking on their derby rivals from the Kempsey Saints club.
That will be followed by the Gladstone-based Lower Macleay Lowies taking on the Hornets.
At a photo call for the teams, Rangers skipper Mylina Clancy said the grand finals line-up was good news for the Macleay.
“We're all happy there’s four Macleay teams and the finals are in Kempsey,” she said.
In their most recent encounters, Rangers Ladies beat the Saints Ladies, while the Lowies lorded it over the Hornets.
With home advantage, Rangers are strong favourites for the title in their match and the Lowies are probably at shorter odds for the men’s final.
There’s a 12.45pm kick-off for the women’s final, with the men’s getting underway at 2.45pm.
