“Unfortunately we had to cancel the Sunday because the course was just too wet after Saturday’s downpour.
"We actually closed the course on Sunday. The weather therefore made us have an 18 Hole event.”
Despite the less than ideal conditions, Piper said the event was still a success.
The event had still been a success despite the weather, Piper said, with 136 players turning up, some of them travelling from Terrigal, the Hunter Valley, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.
“Even though it was rained out we extended prizes down to a one day event and we held a barbecue and presentation on the Sunday at lunchtime."
The overall winner of Saturday’s round was South West Rocks member James Benson with a score of one-under par 71.
Fellow South West Rocks player Jack Townsend was named the Nett winner of the competition with a score of 61.
Piper said the ladies round will be played tomorrow (Tuesday November 17) after Monday’s round was cancelled due to wet weather.
