- Kathryn Yarnold

Real Futures CEO Wendy Yarnold said the employer approached the Kempsey-based Real Futures training and employment company recently to say he was very interested in giving young Aboriginal men an opportunity to work and earn some money while in-turn helping him improve his property.
“He felt that some of the social issues associated with Aboriginal communities were because young people don’t have the same economic advantage that other young people may have in other locations,” Ms Yarnold said.
“He felt that by providing an out of town work site with plenty to do, he could enable a fresh outlook and the motivation to participate in physical labour, keep fit and build on skills that will transfer into future careers.
“The trainees will also have a quiet place to reflect with visiting Elders to tell them stories about their Dunghutti ancestors and their connection to country."
Real Futures is achieving brilliant outcomes under the GenOne and Federal Government VTEC initiative.
Keeping Kempsey as its headquarters, Real Futures employ nine people in its local office and has a reach that extends to the Tweed in the north and Lake Macquarie in the south.
They are setting up a Perth office at the request of mining companies and are part of the NSW Business Chamber Export growth initiative to China with another of their businesses, Real Honey.
To support social diversity and promote acceptance of same sex relationships and step outside perceived normality of indigenous culture, they have taken the Dreamtime Divas indigenous cabaret drag show under their wing and plan a grand tour in 2016.
Real Futures is a privately owned company, which is proud to call Kempsey home.
They welcome any ideas for new projects or anyone who wishes to provide support for current employment and training schemes.
