TAREE trainer Ross Stitt, jockey Matthew McGuren and six-year-old gelding Single Spirit have taken out the 2015 Akubra Hats Kempsey Cup.
The race marked the end of a 35 year journey for Stitt who has tried for more than three decades to win the cup, racking up many second places.
Jockey Matthew McGuren rode a canny race to steer Single Spirit to a three and a half length win over Juste Si trained by John Sprague and ridden by Allan Chau and Champagne Rock trained by Jim Jarvis and ridden by Stephen Traecey.
