TURNER’S Flat bull rider Tom Donnelly is aiming for a local victory in the junior bull riding competition at the Farley Brothers/ Blue Moon event at the Kempsey Showground tomorrow night.

It will be seventeen year-old Donnelly’s last year in the junior competition and he hopes to put on a good show for his hometown supporters.
“It is good to be able to compete in front of your family and friends,” Donnelly said.
“The Farley Brothers put on a great show for the fans as well, so it should be a good night.
“I compete against most the other riders regularly so I think I’ve got a pretty good chance of getting the win.”
Donnelly is a multi-talented rodeo and equestrian athlete who also competes on the local camp drafting circuit.
He is currently doing an electrical apprenticeship but he has big dreams for his bull riding career.
“Ultimately I would like to go to America to ride on the professional circuit,” he said.
“Australian’s have done pretty well in America and I would really like to give it a go.”
Donnelly is full of praise for the Farley brothers and what they have done for bull riding locally.
“It is a top event they put on and as I said riding in Kempsey in front of the local fans makes it special, with a lot of the money raised going to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
“I also have another connection to the brothers; Jared Farley gave me a vest he used to compete in, #31 which I wear when I ride.”
Gates open at the Kempsey Showground at 4.30pm, with live music from 5.30pm before the bull riding kicks off at 7pm.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children under 16 year-of-age, children under five years admitted free.
