After a successful stint hosting the titles in 2012 and 2013 they return for a second time at one of the most popular competition venues in NSW surf lifesaving.
The championships are co-hosted hosted by the South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club and Kempsey Shire Council.
The 2016 Stramit Country Championships are open to clubs outside the Newcastle-to-Illawarra corridor and showcase some of the state’s best surf sports athletes as well as being vital preparation for the state and national surf sports titles.
The clubs will be going all out to prove their supremacy in the junior, senior and coveted overall point scores.
A total of 4000 people are expected to attend, including around 1500 competitors, hundreds of officials and volunteers and a large contingent of supporters and families.
Kempsey Shire Council won the bid to host the event, and the South West Rocks location is an ideal venue for a major surf carnival.
The 2016 Stramit Country Championships is the only event on the surf sport calendar to feature a full range of events including surfboats, as well as all age groups from under 8-years-of-age through to masters, all contained within a two-day surf carnival.
