Currently sitting pretty at the top of the table for the series, Kempsey-Crescent Head surf boat captain’ Mick Conomos said last Saturday was a stinking hot day for the crews with a three to two foot swell but little waves due to a north easterly wind.
“The most outstanding crew for the day was the Mals (Masters Ladies) quickly followed by the 160’s crew with both once again undefeated for the three rounds in their divisions,” Conomos said.
“It turned out to be a bit of a State of Origin affair with a number of competitors coming down from Queensland.
“Three Queensland clubs came down to compete as well as two extra U19 men’s crews however our U19’s crew beat them and won the day.
“We are still at the top of the table with Coffs Harbour in second place but due to our point score it is practically impossible to knock us off the top and I expect to win the series outright.”
Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Club won the day with 109 points with Coffs Harbour second on 61 points.
