Hasting League senior vice president Geoff Ball said the Hastings League in its rich 97-year history has secured a representative group fixture against a Group 4 representative team from the New England region with the best players from the nine strong Hastings League
“Hastings League is calling on interested businesses to come on board and hold the naming rights to this prestigious event,” Ball said.
“The representative season will be held over two weekends starting with the Bush v Beach rep game on June 4 where the best players from the South West Rocks, Lower Macleay, Port Boardriders and Lake Cathie clubs take on players selected from the Harrington, Kendall, Comboyne, Long Flat and Beechwood clubs.
“Going into our fifth year and after four very successful years the Bush v Beach concept is fast becoming a stand out event on the Hastings League calendar.”
Hastings League secretary Geoff Connor said that on the same week-end, the Hastings League announced that a Hastings League Indigenous rep side will play a rep side for the very first time of their 97-year history.
“The Hastings League Indigenous rep team versus the Hastings League rep team will become a yearly event not to be missed,” Connor said.
“On July 2, a Hastings League 17 man squad Group representative team will play a Group 4 Rep side from the New England area at Lank Bain Sporting Complex at Wauchope.
“Both weekends will have a carnival type atmosphere where football will be the main event but afterwards there will be the presentation to the winners, activities for the kids, music and plenty of refreshments and food at the ground where players and supports can mix and enjoy the night.”
Connor said the Hastings League will also be hosting a Ladies tackle rep game as well as a Ladies Oz Tag rep game.
“The Hastings League has set its sights on making the representative season a highlight of the rugby league calendar on the Mid North Coast and the weekend will also give excellent exposure to sponsors who back the concept of quality country rugby league,” Connor said.
“Sponsorship packages are available to potential sponsors with outstanding exposure to be had.
This will be a fun weekend where the football will be the main event but afterwards there will be the presentation to the winners, activities for the kids, music and plenty of refreshments and food all at the ground where players and supporters can mix and enjoy the night.”
