The gypsy-ska outfit from Sydney has been relentlessly touring Australia, the UK and Europe honing their craft. Macleay River Festival will be one more chalk mark on their ever-growing list of gigs.
These troubadours have wowed audiences at Woodford Folk Festival, Rainbow Serpent Festival and Festival of the Wind (to name just a very few Aussie performances).
And before gracing the Macleay River Festival on September 24, Caravana Sun will be wrapping up a massive circuit in the UK including Boomtown Fair, Boardmasters Festival, Electric Beach Festival and the Young Art Festival in the Netherlands.
In April the band released single Eye of the Storm from the forthcoming album Guerrilla Club, scheduled to hit the airwaves in June.
According to the band, the new album was born out of the band’s connection to their home, land and sea. Their endless and unconventional touring circuit to rural communities has directly shaped the foundations of the new record.
For those unfamiliar with the event, Macleay River Festival is family-friendly, open to all ages and its mission is to become a major annual event that ‘showcases the spirit and diversity of culture and experiences in the Macleay’.
Macleay River Festival organiser Olivia Parker explains that this years’ festival aims to have more local content featured in the program.
“We had such a wonderful response to the festival in 2014, however, its continued success will depend largely on community support,” Olivier said.
“There are lots of ways locals can be involved in the festival whether it’s on the centre-stage, as a stallholder or creating an art installation.”
