A 74-year-old man has been charged following a head-on collision on the Pacific Highway that left two German tourists seriously injured.

Emergency services were called to a section of the highway near Clybucca just after 1:30am, on Thursday March 3, 2016, following a head-on collision between a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Toyota Hiace campervan.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the driver of the car, a 74-year-old man, at the scene before he was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital with serious injuries.
The two men travelling in the campervan, both aged 18, were also injured. Both men were treated at the scene and conveyed to Coffs Harbour Hospital.
One man suffered arm and leg injuries while the other had to be airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he underwent surgery on his back.
The two men, both German Nationals, have since left the country and are both undergoing further treatment.
Officers attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command attended and with assistance from Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene.
Following investigations, police charged the 74-year-old man with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He will appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday June 27, 2016.
