THE Kempsey Shire Council has revised telephone contact hours for its customer first centre which now closes at 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays to allow for staff training and development.

A council spokesperson explained the changes.
“For approximately six months now Council’s Customer First team have diverted the phones to the after-hours service from 4pm on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons,” they said.
“This is to allow the staff to undertake required training and staff meetings in order to remain informed about the processes and issues that customers may present with.
“The front counter is still manned by a skeleton staff during this half hour and the doors remain open. At the conclusion of the staff meeting the after-hours service is checked and any messages downloaded and calls returned.”
