The cake is in the shape of the map of Australia (and yes it does have a separate Tasmania) topped with a spectacular display of native flowers.
The cake was the star attraction at the Lions changeover dinner on Tuesday night which saw incoming president Neville Coles take over the reins.
Weighing a belt-stretching 20 plus kilograms, the icing alone accounts for 15kg, the cake is made from five chocolate mud cake mixes.
Mr Farrawell was pretty pleased with his creation when he spoke to the Argus this week.
“I have been baking for probably 30 years and this is the biggest thing i have ever done,” he said.
“It took three months to make, that was mainly the flowers and plants on the cake which are a mix of edible and real flowers, but most of it is made by me from sugar.
“There is a lot of complicated wire work holding it all up, I spent a lot of time getting it right and sometimes I would get up in the middle of the night to work on it because I wasn’t happy with something.”
Mr Farrawell had to resort to some inventive baking because of the size of the cake.
“I had to bake Western Australia separately because the cake was too big to go in the oven and join it together later on,” he said.
