Coach Rod Franklin has picked clayton cup winning and north coast hooker Dean Hurrell as captain
Hurrell was an integral part of the Wauchope Blues first grade team that won numerous premierships in Group 3
Hurrell will pack down in the front row with Adam McMurray who was also a north coast representative and McMurray has been instrumental in a number of first grade teams
The other player to watch is Justin Laurie at lock
Laurie is a very experienced campaigner
The Marlins centre duo Rueben Dufty and try scoring machine Chris Carr will both line up in the centres with Magpie Matt Carter on the wing.
Other magpies Buddy King and Bo Wilson are on the bench which coach Franklin will be looking for both to have an impact

Diabetes shield
The Lower Macleay Magpies take on the Long Flat Dragons on July 9 for the Macleay Valley Coast Diabetes Group Charity Shield with the gates opening at 10.30 for a big day of football, fundraising and entertainment.
There will be Junior league games including the Macleay under 15's v Sawtell at 12pm. This is for competition points as it is a deferred game from earlier in the season. Come watch these talented kids play some great rugby league!
There will the Maureen Garvey School of Dance Pom squad doing some cheerleading routines. The MVCDG stall including the popular Hot n Tasty cupcakes on sale
Terry's entertainment will be pumping out the tunes for the day giving the day a great vibe. Plus much more.. Then head back to the Magpies major sponsor the Heritage Hotel of Gladstone! There will be an auction, bbq, DJ and raffles! It's always a good fun night! Come and support the Magpies and help them raise money for this great LOCAL charity for kids living with Type 1 Diabetes!
